Recognition of Faculty, Staff, Students and Alumni

1. Former AIT faculty member Professor Stephen Ogunlana, who is currently the Chair of the Construction Project Management at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK has informed us of the good news that the Construction Management and Economics Journal (voted the top journal in the construction management field since 1997) has three of the seven articles published in the April 2008 issue authored by AIT’s Construction Engineering and Infrastructure Management (CEIM) students and former students.

The proposal for Erasmus Mundus Program for the International Master Cooperation in Robotics which was jointly developed and submitted by Dr Nitin Afzulpurkar, AIT faculty member and Associate Dean SET, together with some other institutional partners has been accepted by the European Union (EU). Under this program AIT will be receiving one European Professor (funded from the project) per year starting in 2009 (stay will be one semester at AIT). In addition, about 9-10 European students are expected to spend one semester at AIT (fully paid tuition fee) starting from 2009.

2. Mr. Mamadou Billo Cherif Diallo, who is from Guinea, and currently a doctoral student at AIT in the Environmental Engineering & Management field of study, is duly recognized for his proactive initiatives to help promote AIT to the Islamic Development Bank (IDB). Mr. Diallo helped recommend AIT to the Head of Scholarships Program Office, IDB in Saudi Arabia for a possible collaboration with AIT.

IDB has included AIT in its list of renowned and reputed institutions / universities in Asia for the IDB Merit Scholars. IDB reviewed AIT’s offerings and programs and were highly impressed with AIT’s infrastructure facilities, availability of faculty members for students, as well as multicultural environment of the AIT campus.

IDB provides more than 100 scholarships annually for both masters and doctoral programs to highly qualified candidates to pursue their higher education in various institutions all over the world. Mr. Diallo is the first recipient of the prestigious IDB scholarship program to study at AIT.
