In agreement intended to provide for world-class higher education
opportunities in India, Dubai and Mauritius, as well as for joint
research activities, AIT recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) with Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) 
located in Mysore, India.

SERD’s new partnership with Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Forestry

AIT’s School of Environment, Resources and Development
(SERD) and the Faculty of Forestry of Thailand’s
Kasetsart University (KU) on 18 June 2008 signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a three-year multifaceted
academic cooperation agreement.

Thailand’s Provincial Electricity Authority signs multi-million Baht deal for 40 staff scholarships and research at AIT

In a multi-million baht deal, the Asian Institute of Technology has
partnered with the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) to offer
master’s degree level scholarship opportunities for up to 40 PEA staff
over the next four years.

Partnership in Thailand-India Inter Governmental Programme of Cooperation in Science & Technology

Last week on 7 June, the President of AIT Prof. Said Irandoust
hosted a dinner meeting for which was attended by Thai National
Nanotechnology Center's Director, Professor Wiwut Tanthapanichakoon;
Director of the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata,
India, Professor Arup Kumar Raychaudhuri and my colleague, Dr. Joydeep
Dutta, our Nanotechnology Center Director.

On 6 of June, executives from the Charoen Pokphand Group of Companies
Thailand visited AIT . The delegation from the company included Khun
Ajva Taulananda, Vice-Chairman CP Group, Khun Naowarat Bumrungchit,
Senior Vice-President, Learning and Development, Khun Hwei Choo Tay,
Senior Vice-President R&D/QA, Khun Anurat Suthamnirun,
Vice-President, Khun Tinakorn Ruenthip, Executive Vice-President, Human
Resources, Khun Sujint Thammasart, Executive Vice-President,
Aquaculture Research and Development and Khun Kittinut Tikawan, General
Manager Lifestyle Retail Company of the CP Group.

Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs visits AIT

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of
Sri Lanka, Hon. Mr. Rohitha Bogollagama (above left) is officially
welcomed to the Institute by AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, Hon. Mr. Rohitha
Bogollagama (above left), on 12 June paid a courtesy visit to the Asian
Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, along with a
delegation of high-ranking Sri Lankan officials which included the
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, H.E. Professor J.B.
Disanayaka.

Update on AIT’s Collaboration in Afghanistan

Kandahar 
University - On 2 June, AIT Pres. Said Irandoust
met with Mr. Abdul Tawab and
Mr. Kamal faculty members
of Kandahar University to discuss possible cooperation
between Kandahar University and AIT. Kandahar University
would like to partner with AIT in the capacity building of its
university through the Strengthening of Higher Education Program
(SHEP), Ministry of Higher Education, Afghanistan
supported by the World Bank.
