The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) recently
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with
India’s GIS Development (GISD) during the Map
Asia 2008 conference which was held from 17-18 August
2008 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust signed on behalf of
AIT. Mr. Sanjay Kumar, CEO of GISD India signed on
behalf AIT’s new partner. The deal is intended to enable cooperation
between AIT and GISD India in the area of human resource development in
geoinformation technology. The scope of activities under the MoU
include collaboration in professional diploma programs in fields
related to GIS such as surveying, mapping and imaging, remote sensing
and data processing; joint project initiatives in Asia for geospatial
and industrial development; and special joint training packages to
serve the Asian geospatial community.
AIT officials also met with Dr. M. P. Narayanan,
President of GISD India, which is the organizer of the Map Asia
2008 event.
