Following a conference call with Mr. Liberato Bautista,
President CONGO, and Mr. Werner H. Schleiffer, Executive
Coordinator (Geneva), International Secretariat Management Team, CONGO,
Geneva, AIT has been awarded the rights to host the CONGO board meeting
which is scheduled on 12-17 December 2008. While the CONGO board
meeting proper will be taking place on 14-16 December, AIT host a
dinner on the eve of 14 December where the AIT Board of Trustee members
and selected international organizations will be invited to interact
with the CONGO board members. On the afternoon of 16 December, a
colloquium has been planned to enable interaction between CONGO Board
meeting participants and AIT faculty, staff and students. Similar to
the MDG workshop AIT hosted in March 2008, the hosting of the CONGO
board meeting will provide AIT an opportunity to increase its
visibility within the global NGO community.

The Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations in Consultative
Relationship with the United Nations (CONGO) is an independent,
international, non-profit membership association of non-governmental
organizations (NGOs). It facilitates the participation of NGOs in
United Nations debates and decision-making. CONGO is most active at the
major UN centers of New York, Geneva and Vienna but its work stretches
out to all regions of the world.
