AIT will hold its 110th Graduation Ceremony on 19 December 2008 at the
AIT Conference Center Auditorium. AIT President Said
Irandoust will present degrees to more than 250 graduates at
the Graduation Ceremony. Professor Dr. Richard A.
Meganck, Rector of UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education,
located in Delft, The Netherlands, will deliver the graduation
address.
Prof. Meganck’s career includes thirty-four years working in
international development and management of natural resources with
organizations in the United Nations and Inter-American systems. He has
served as the Director of Sustainable Development and Environment with
the Organization of American States, the Director of the UNEP Regional
Seas Programme in the Caribbean, Director of the Asia and the Pacific
Region for UNEP, and Director of the UN International Environment
Technology Center in Osaka, Japan. He began his professional career as
a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Colombia in 1969, followed by 4 years
as an assistant professor in the College of Forestry at Oregon State
University.
Dr. Meganck and his family have lived in eight nations in the
Americas, Asia and Europe and he has undertaken more than 350 technical
and administrative missions to 106 countries throughout the world. Dr.
Meganck has published more than 70 journal articles, five books,
including A Dictionary and Introduction to Global Environmental
Governance published in 2007 by Earthscan, and delivered in excess of
150 technical and representational speeches to his career. He holds
BSc. And MSc. Degrees from Michigan State University in Watershed
Management and Resource Development Policy and a Ph.D. from Oregon
State University in Natural Resource Management.
