On 18-23 June 2008, a delegation from the Asian Institute of
Technology (AIT) visited Pakistan for future collaboration.

The objective of the visit was to promote AIT and explore long term
collboration in Pakistan. The cities visited were Lahore, Karachi and
Islamabad.

In an historic first for the Asian Institute of
Technology, President Prof. Said Irandoust was
invited to give a speech on civil society engagement for
sustainable development to member States attending the United Nations
Economic and Social Council (UN-ECOSOC) 2008 High Level Meeting meeting
held from  1-3 July, at UN Headquarters in New
York.

A delegation of officials representing the Asian Institute of
Technology on June 26th called on 2006 Nobel Peace Prize
winner, Professor Muhammad Yunus, during his brief stay in Bangkok. The
delegation, led by Acting AIT President Prof. Peter Haddawy, offered
its welcome to the Nobel Laureate and exchanged a number of
possibilities for future collaboration.

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has joined with India-based Vishwakarma School of International Studies (VSIS) to offer new two-stage master’s programs that will allow graduate level students easy access to internationalized higher education in Thailand and
India, starting this August 2008 semester.

On 23 June 2008, a delegation from the academic and
environmental sectors of Nigeria visited the Asian
Institute of Technology to discuss future collaboration.

In agreement intended to provide for world-class higher education
opportunities in India, Dubai and Mauritius, as well as for joint
research activities, AIT recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) with Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) 
located in Mysore, India.

AIT’s School of Environment, Resources and Development
(SERD) and the Faculty of Forestry of Thailand’s
Kasetsart University (KU) on 18 June 2008 signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a three-year multifaceted
academic cooperation agreement.
