AIT pair shine at Thai National Best Business English Speaker Competition

Ms. Thitikan Satchabut  (pictured above), a master’s
student of natural resources management at the School of Environment,
Resources and Development (SERD), recently won the third place prize at
the Thai National Best Business English Speaker Competition held on 2
November 2008 at the Sasin Institute of Business Administration of
Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.

Together with partner Wetlands Alliance Programme (WAP), AIT is
spearheading the region's first vocational and professional bachelor
program to tackle poverty in Lao PDR through the Poverty Reduction and
Agricultural Management (PRAM) initiative.

SET Dean Prof. Worsak awarded first Nishino Medal

recipient of the first Nishino Medal at the Opening Ceremony of
EASEC-11 Conference
in Taipei, November 19, 2008

AIT’s Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology (SET),
Professor Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, recently was awarded the first
Nishino Medal for his internationally recognized contributions in the
fields of structural engineering and construction.

AIT was one of nineteen educational institutions from around Thailand
invited to join the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy (CRMA)
Education Exhibition 2008 on 12 November in Nakhon Nayok,
Thailand.

Former Thai Foreign Minister H.E. Dr. Tej Bunnag appointed Chairman of AIT Board of Trustees

Former Thai Foreign Minister H.E. Dr. Tej Bunnag was
unanimously approved as the next Chairman of the Board of
Trustees of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) at a meeting of the
AIT Board of Trustees held on 20 November 2008.

Dr. Tej becomes the seventh chairman in the forty-nine
year history of AIT. Preceding him were Professor Puey Ungpakorn,
Professor Oscar Mapua, Dr. Thanat Khoman (Chairman Emeritus), M. L.
Birabhongse Kasemsri, H.E. Mr. Anand Panyarachun and H.E Dr. Tej
himself from 31 October 2006 to 8 July 2008.
