The Yunus Center at AIT, named after Professor Muhammad Yunus,
recipient of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize, is being established this year
at AIT to address issues of food security, social business in
agriculture, applications of ICT in agriculture, and to act as a
watchdog to encourage research that will have a positive impact on poor
people's lives.
At the formal launch of the Yunus Center at AIT, Prof.
Muhammad Yunus will discuss how he intends to tackle poverty through
education in Thailand
Prof. Muhammad Yunus and AIT will explain their collective
vision for the new centre and its initial program called the Poverty
Reduction Agriculture Management Program (PRAM), which is now working
in Thailand, Lao PDR, and the Philippines. They will shed light on the
Center’s plans to:
• Address issues of poverty reduction through food security
• Encourage gender-sensitive research on poverty reduction and food
security
• Serve as a research watchdog to encourage funding and conduct of
research that has an impact on poor people’s lives
• Explore, incubate, and disseminate models of social business in
rural agriculture and related areas
