AIT offers to support govt in promoting country as a hub

AIT Vice President Prof. Worsak KanokNukulchai was recently interviewed
by The Nation newspaper on the role of AIT in Thailand. AIT's
multinational atmosphere promotes the use of English, and its
reputation among foreigners could support the government in promoting
study in Thailand.

"The government should appoint AIT as a centre collaborating with Thai
universities, such as Chulalongkorn and Mahidol. I want AIT to share
experience, teaching techniques and lecturers with them, giving these
lecturers a chance to work with foreign lecturers in the international
atmosphere at AIT. I believe this will promote the region's
educationhub policy," Prof. Worsak said.

AIT has requested an investment from the Royal Thai Government as a
gift for the Institute's 50th anniversary. The investment will fund the
expansion of the institute's basic infrastructure and fund the
establishment of nanotechnology, food science and biotechnology
teaching.

"Every country is competing to be a leader in nanotechnology. AIT
wants nanotechnology studies, but it has no budget as it is a nonprofit
organisation. With funds, AIT would be able to develop nanotechnology
quickly."
