AIT welcomes new students on Orientation Day

“The stay in AIT is not only challenging, but also productive and
entertaining at the same time. AIT is a rigorous school where students
challenge themselves towards greater achievements and accomplishments”.
With these remarks AIT President Said Irandoust welcomed new students
at the Orientation Day at AIT.

It is a testimony of your capabilities that you are all here, the AIT
President remarked while interacting with the new students. He
mentioned that AIT positions itself as a regional network institute
working in an International multicultural environment. AIT is now
expanding and is aiming to create new centers in India, Pakistan, Sri
Lanka, Bangladesh, China and Nepal. It is also expanding in Central
Asia, West Asia, Middle East and Africa. He mentioned that students
from new countries including Cook Islands and Lithuania had been
admitted in AIT this year. “The friendships, teamwork, and networks
that you form here will grant you tremendous competitive advantage in
your life”, President Irandoust said.

Prof Peter Haddawy, Vice President (Academic Affairs) mentioned the
endless possibilities that await AIT students. He asked students to be
ambitious and urged them to challenge themselves. “Two factors are
influencing us the world today -- knowledge is now readily available;
and secondly technology is becoming outdated very soon”. In light of
this critical thinking, problem solving, learning skills and technical
abilities are the increasingly becoming crucial parameters.

The President of the Student Union, Shankar Shivdas Tagad termed the
new students as the “golden champions of AIT”, since this batch of
students was being admitted during the Golden Jubilee celebrations of
AIT. The new students were welcomed by Benjamin A. Gargabite,
Coordinator, Admissions and Scholaships.

Apart from the President, Prof Peter Haddawy, Vice President (Academic
Affairs); Prof Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Vice President (Resource
Development) and Dean School of Engineering and Technology (SET); Prof
Sudip Rakshit, Vice President (Research); Barbara Igel, Dean School of
Management; Prof Vilas Salokhe, Acting Dean, School of Environment,
Resources and Development (SERD) interacted with students answering
their questions. Ann V. Lopez Fontanilla, Head Student Office conducted
