AIT Alumnus Dr. Dinesh Raj Shiwakoti honored in Vietnam

Senior consulting engineer and
AIT alumnus
(1994), Dr. Dinesh Raj Shiwakoti has been granted a
prestigious merit award by the authorities in Ho Chi Minh City of the
Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Dr. Shiwakoti has been awarded in
reorganization of his excellent achievements in works, contributing to
the completion of Stage 1 construction of the Saigon East-West Highway
Construction Project.

The award was presented to him during a special ceremony on 11
September 2009 for the outstanding contribution in the JICA funded physical
infrastructure development project, costing over USD500 million, in Ho
Chi Minh City- for which he has been continuously providing the
consulting services since 2003.

Dr. Shiwakoti completed his Masters degree in Geotechnical and
Transportation Engineering from Asian Institute of Technology. He
earned his doctorate from Yokohama National University, and completed
his post-doctorate research studies from the Port and Harbour Research
Institute in Japan.

Dr. Shiwakoti has over 17 years of extensive professional experiences
in research, design, construction and supervision management of
complicated and large scale physical infrastructure projects in various
Asian countries, including Nepal, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Korea and
Vietnam.

Dr. Shiwakoti has served as Vice President of Nepal Geotechnical Society, and is an
active member of various national and international professional
organizations including International Society of Soil Mechanics and
Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE).
