AIT features in USDA’s Agriculture Research Service

Research work by Prof. Vilas M. Salokhe of the School of Environment,
Resources and Development (SERD) at the Asian Institute of Technology
(AIT) has been featured by the Agriculture Research Service (ARS) of
the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

An article written by Ann Perry titled “Computer Modeling Can
Contribute to Thai Soybean Production” states that ARS scientists along
with their partners at AIT have been able to “pinpoint the best
agronomic practices for maximizing soybean production in
Thailand”.

The article says that ARS scientists are testing the soybean model
GLYCIM to improve its performance under a range of conditions around
the world.

University of Borås seeks partnership with AIT

University of Borås has
sought a partnership with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) for
dissemination of knowledge on waste treatment, resource recovery as
well as energy generation from waste materials. A delegation comprising
of Prof. Mohammad Taherzadeh, Professor in Biotechnology at School of
Engineering, University of Borås, and Mr. Olle Engstrom, Chairman of
the Board of Boras Lokatrafik AB, Sweden, stated this while delivering
a presentation on the “Knowledge and technology transfer on waste
refinery between Sweden and Thailand".

The Philippines renewed its full commitment to the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and wished to remain an active member by becoming a signatory of the new AIT Charter. This was stated by H.E. Mr. Alberto G. Romulo, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines during a meeting with H.E. Dr. Tej Bunnag, Chairman of the AIT Board of Trustees and Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President during their recent visit to the Republic of the Philippines.
