AIT participates in United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) events

On October 3, Prof. Rakshit represented AIT at the Joint Launch of the
Asia Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Network and Regional Climate
Change Adaptation Knowledge Platform for Asia in Bangkok. Mr. Achim
Steiner, UN Under Secretary General and UNEP Executive Director, H.E.
Mr. Kazuhiko Takemoto, Vice Minister for Global Environmental Affairs,
Ministry of Environment, Japan, and AIT trustee H.E. Mr. Lennart
Linnér, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Thailand delivered
keynote addresses during the event.

The 12th Annual Advisory Committee Meeting was held on 4 October at
the same venue. The meeting mentioned the increased role of AIT in
developing and strengthening the AIT-UNEP.RRC.AP partnership. The
Advisory Committee members who attended the meeting were Prof. Rakshit
on behalf of AIT; Mr. Chatre Moonstan, Senior Programme Officer of the
Royal Norwegian Embassy; Dr. Anders Granlund, Director of Swedish
Environmental Secretariat for Asia (SENSA); Mr. Surendra Shrestha,
Director of Strategic Resource Mobilization/Special Initiatives, UNEP;
Mr. David McCauly, Principal Climate Change Specialist in the Regional
and Sustainable Development Department of the Asian Development Bank
(ADB); and Dr. Young-Woo Park, Regional Director and Representative for
Asia and the Pacific, UNEP.

Earlier H. E. Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of
Thailand launched the Asia Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Network
& Regional Climate Change Adaptation Knowledge Platform for
Asia.
