Philippines renews its commitment to AIT

The Philippines renewed its full commitment to the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and wished to remain an active member by becoming a signatory of the new AIT Charter. This was stated by H.E. Mr. Alberto G. Romulo, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines during a meeting with H.E. Dr. Tej Bunnag, Chairman of the AIT Board of Trustees and Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President during their recent visit to the Republic of the Philippines.

AIT participates in United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) events

Prof. Sudip Rakshit, Vice President for Research, joined a series of UNEP activities in support of the existing partnership between the two institutions. On 2 October 2009, Prof. Rakshit attended the 10th Collaborative Action Network (CAN) meeting in which AIT is a CAN partner. The meeting began with an update on AIT-UNEP RRC.AP by Mr. Mahesh Pradhan, Interim Director.

AIT signs agreements with three companies for RTG-funded Joint Research Projects

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has signed agreements with three companies – Advanced Agro Public Company Limited, D.A. Research Center Company Limited, and Likitomi (Thailand) Company Limited to launch joint research projects under the Royal Thai Government (RTG) funding program. AIT faculty members and researchers from these companies will jointly participate in the respective projects.

WirelessU Workshop, “Wireless Internet – Emergency Networks”

This WirelessU Workshop, "Wireless Internet - Emergency Networks" is co-organized by RISTEK-Indonesia, AIT and NECTEC, with support of ISIF.asia, ISOC, NSRC, THNIC Foundation and NetworkTheWorld.org in order to provide participants hands-on experience on WiMAX technologies and deploying mobile wireless network on an ad hoc basis for emergency conditions, such as after a natural disaster when a fixed network infrastructure is not available or had been destroyed.
