Food Fair 2009 with flair

Science teaches us that people must eat in order to live. But for those
at AIT who “live to eat” Food Fair 2009 was clearly the place to be on
November 14.

Organized by AIT’s Student Union Culture and Gender Committee, the
Fiftieth Anniversary event shone the spotlight on AIT’s multicultural
make-up as 13 country associations participated with stalls offering a
bevy of national dishes.

The special event held on a central campus football pitch allowed the
large number fairgoers to choose from a wealth of culinary delights, as
well as enjoy the special camaraderie that marks campus life. Live
music and dancers added to the occasion.

Many participating vendors entered into the spirit of the evening with
decorative stalls. A select team of faculty, senior administration and
student union judges chose winners based on the decoration of the
stall, the food items served and the overall culinary skills of the
participating students.

A prize ceremony for the recently held AIT Student Union Mini-Olympics
2009 was also held. AIT Vice President Prof. S. K. Rakshit handed out
awards to winners of ten sports along with Mr. Shankar Tagad,
Student Union (SU) President, who recognized the exemplary job done by
the SU Sports Committee and its Chairperson Mr. Dinesh Gurusinghe, and
all the event's volunteers.
