The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Government of Timor-Leste has also
offered to extend an invitation to AIT to send an institute
representative to the annual Timor-Leste Development partner meeting,
which will be held on 7 April 2010. This would facilitate future
development strategies and priorities by the government and expand its
explorative discourse to other line-agencies and development partners
for help in organizing the workshop on “Higher Education for the
Sustainable Development of Timor-Leste.”
The delegation also introduced AIT and its variety of specialized
programmes to the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education and the National
University of Timor-Leste, as well as the State Secretariat of Natural
Resources and Minerals. All discussion partners showed a keen interest
in AIT’s academic and professional programs and appreciated AIT’s wide
range of specialization for building development capacities in young
countries. The partners also stressed the need for short-term,
specialized skill development programs that are designed to directly
contribute to ongoing development efforts.
