An Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by between Prof. Phung
Xuan Nha, President, UEB, VNU and
Prof. Said Irandoust, President, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) at
AIT on 10 June 2010.
Prof. Nha said the agreement is in line with the vision of cooperation
envisaged in the Asian region, particularly among ASEAN countries. He
added that the two institutes will follow it up with specific programs.
He also sought exploration of more opportunities for development and
training.
Prof Irandoust termed it a timely initiative and stressed the need for
integrating innovation and entrepreneurial vision. “Vietnam is one of
the most important partner countries for AIT and we will explore the
development of a pilot project of creating a full fledged campus in
Vietnam,” he added. Vietnam shall be the first country where AIT is
seeking a full fledged expansion, the AIT President said.
Dr. Barbara Igel, Dean, School of Management (SOM) revealed that 35 of
the brightest students who are already enrolled at UEB shall be joining
AIT in August. They will be followed by successive batches of students
for the unified BBA-MBA program. Dr. Igel also invited faculty from UEB
to co-teach with AIT faculty.
Apart from Prof. Nha, the delegation from UEB comprised of Mr. Nguyen
Thanh Hung, Trade Counselor, Office of Vietnam Embassy in Thailand; Mr.
Nguyen Quang Anh, Attaché, Office of Vietnam Embassy in Thailand; Dr.
Pham Thuy Linh, Director of BBA Program, UEB and Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh
Minh, International Relations Coordinator, UEB. Dr. Pritam Krishna
Shrestha, Head, External Relations&Communications Office (ERCO);
Dr. Hoang Le Tien, Head of the AIT Alumni Office and Ms. Tiamkare
Thitithamtada, Program Officer, ERCO also attended the meeting.
