Prof. Somchai is an AIT alumnus having completed his Master’s in Energy
Technology from AIT in 1984. He completed Bachelor’s in Mechanical
Engineering from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi
(KMUTT), Ph.D. from Chulalongkorn University and Dr.-Ing. from
University of Hannover, Germany.
Prof. Dr. Somchai has been devoting to his teaching work, service
work, and research work continuously together with developing people to
be bright and good person to serve the society. Prof. Dr. Somchai
created a group research work and served as the Head of Fluid
Mechanics, Thermal Engineering and Multiphase Flow Research Lab
(FUTURE). He has been supporting academic services for various agencies
such as universities, Royal Institute of Thailand, Office of the Higher
Education Commission (OHEC), the Thailand Research Fund, and National
Science and Technology Development Agency.
Prof. Dr. Somchai is the recipient of several awards such as
Outstanding researcher award from the Thailand Research Fund (TRF)
(1996-1997), TRF Senior Research Scholar (2003 – 2009), Outstanding
Researcher Award in Engineering and Industrial Research from the
National Research Council (2004), Outstanding Scientist Award from the
Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology under the
Patronage of His Majesty the King (2006) and the Outstanding Research
Professorship from TRF and OHEC (2010).
