The Minister, who along with eight senior officials from Ethiopia
attended the program, remarked that their study objective has been
attained and that AIT provided them with practical examples of using
technology in rural development and agriculture. Complimenting AIT for
hosting and organizing the program, the minister stated that the AIT
focus on appropriate technology for developing countries has proved to
be very beneficial for the participants.
H.E. Dr. Abera revealed that Ethiopia’s five-year plan is aimed at
growth and transformation and the knowledge gained at AIT will help in
planning. “Our collaboration with AIT will continue in the future,” the
minister added.
Earlier, Prof. Joydeep Dutta, Vice President for Academic Affairs, AIT
awarded certificates to the successful participants. He also presented
the book “Fundamentals of Nanotechnology” to the Minister.
Dr. Fazle Karim, Head of Information Technology and Engineering (ITE)
at AIT Extension stated that the program demonstrated the keenness of
the Government of Ethiopia in emphasizing on rural development. He also
thanked the minister for selecting AIT as the venue for the training
program.
