55 students participate in AIT Master’s Research Competition

Fifty five students participated in the fifth Master’s Thesis Competition at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). The event, organized on 17 May, was witnessed by experts from International and regional organizations, partner universities as well as the private sector who acted as judges in various categories.
Nano project wins AIT Video Research competition

Ms Aarthy Sivapunniyam was declared the winner of the second AIT v.research competition organized at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). The award winning video titled “Gas sensor based on nanostructures†was the judge’s choice and won the grand prize of a Sony HD video camera. The video based on her research as a student of Microelectronics in the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) focused on how gas leakage disasters could be avoided using sensors based on nanotechnology. Her research was carried under the supervision of Prof. Joydeep Dutta, Director, Center for Excellence in Nanotechnology at AIT.

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and PSG Institute of Advanced Studies (PSGIAS) will jointly offer Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in the field of Nanotechnology. This follows an agreement between AIT and PSGIAS for the launch of a Master’s degree program in August 2010, and a Bachelor program leading to Master’s which shall commence in 2011.

Timor-Leste’s Minister for Education, Culture and Sports expresses keen interest in AIT

Following an invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Timor-Leste, an AIT delegation comprised of Dr. Theo Ebbers, Outreach Coordinator for partner Wetlands Alliance and Dr. Prabhat Kumar, Senior Research Specialist, ASE, School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), recently participated in the annual Timor-Leste and Development Partners Meeting in Dili on 7 April 2010.
