On 27 April 2010, AIT President Said Irandoust led an AIT delegation consisting of Professor Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Vice President for Resource Development and Dr. Nitin Afzulpurkar, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology to Thailand’s Phitsanulok Province to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AIT and Naresuan University (NU) to recruit NU faculty members to complete their postgraduate studies at AIT, and also for other types of cooperation.

AIT’s Professor Peter Haddawy, Vice President for Academic Affairs, was recently interviewed by Dr. Valerie McKenzie and Kipsan Beck on the popular Thai television talk show program Morning Talk.

President Said Irandoust announced yesterday (3 May 2010) that the Institute will establish a Hall of Fame for the first time in its history. At its inauguration in September 2010, AIT will induct the first group of ten alumni into the AIT Hall of Fame.

Two senior officials of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) paid a fact-finding visit to AIT last week and expressed optimism that existing partnerships between AIT and Sida should evolve and prosper well into the future.

As Honorary Chancellor, President Clinton will advise this group of universities in areas such as social responsibility, youth leadership and increasing access to higher education. He will also encourage civic engagement and youth leadership on important social issues during his appearances at university campuses and in print and online messages to the nearly 600,000 students in the Laureate network.

University Piere et Marie Curie (UPMC), Paris is interested in collaborating with Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), particularly in offering joint courses at the Master’s level. This was stated by Dr. Gilbert Béréziat, Vice President for International Relations of UPMC during a visit to AIT.

Mrs. Kasemsri Hormchean (Environmental Engineering, 1980), a master’s graduate from AIT’s Environmental Engineering Program, School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), has been appointed as the new Governor of the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR).

Students from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) visited the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and returned impressed with the wide range of offerings at the institute. A delegation from NTUA headed by Dr. Theopisti Lyuperopoulou and comprising of 40 students were eager to learn more about the interdisciplinary and professional programs during their campus visit of AIT.
