‘Reform is not enough, AIT needs a new business model’

Stating that reform is not enough since AIT needs a new business model, AIT President Said Irandoust called for solid actions to face new emerging challenges. The President was speaking at the Institute Forum at the AIT Conference Center. He elaborated that AIT is performing well financially, but it has to be aware of global developments.

AIT President Said Irandoust shall share the report on the Institute’s financial performance, student enrolment trends, recent activities and initiatives, as well as provide an update on the study being conducted by the independent external consultants on the “Exploration of a new financing / funding model for AIT”. Professor Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Vice President for Resource Development will make a presentation on the plans for setting up an "AIT Endowment Foundation" as a vehicle for the Institute’s fundraising campaign.
Innovative climate friendly rice production in Central Thailand

More than 180 invited farmers from Central Thailand acquired first hand experience on climate friendly rice production from project farmers, experts from the Department of Agriculture Extension (DoAE) and Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) during the Farmers Field Day organized at village Ban Nongri in Ratchaburi province of Thailand.

Most Thai students study engineering in Germany

Most students from Thailand go to Germany to study engineering science (39 per cent). This is closely followed by mathematics and natural sciences (22 per cent) which are also popular among Thai students in Germany. This was revealed by Dr. Carolin Mülverstedt, Director of Information Center, Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) while delivering a talk on study and research opportunities in Germany.

The millennium goal of reducing maternal mortality is lagging behind other Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and it is estimated that five jumbo jets of maternal deaths occur every day. This is compounded by sub regional disparities with some regions falling way behind others in achieving this MDG.
