Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DFTQC), Government of Nepal is keen to have a formal partnership with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). This was stated by a delegation of DFTQC headed by Ms. Jiwan Prava Lama, Director General during a visit to AIT on 18 November 2010.

AIT Greening Day will be organized by the AIT Students Union on 19 November 2010. One tree shall be planted for each country represented at AIT. Students Union has procured saplings of the tree “Lagerstoemla Speclosa” or “Pride of India” for plantation.
AIT and NIDA draw closer at 32nd Traditional Sports Day
Friendship was the name of the game at the 32nd annual AIT-NIDA Traditional Sports Day held on 15 November 2010 at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). Though women’s and men’s teams competed to win in eight sports, the event succeeded in drawing both institutes closer together.
Seminar on tsunami in Indonesia
Mr. Clinton Smith, who participated as a volunteer of Téléoms Sans Frontière (TSF), following the tsunami in Indonesia shall be delivering a seminar on 25 October 2010. German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) is actively seeking participation in Thai-German trilateral projects in Cambodia, Lao PDR and Vietnam. This was stated by Mr. Apichai Sunchindah, Policy Advisor, GTZ during his visit to Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 19 November 2010.
Pakistan seeks AIT’s help in reducing vulnerability
Environment Minister of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi, has sought the assistance of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in reducing vulnerability in Pakistan. The government of Pakistan is currently analyzing causes of environmental degradation, and it is keen that AIT should suggest measures to reduce vulnerability from natural disasters.
ARCMDG joins working group for first “ASEAN Statistical Report on MDGs Indicators”
Ten years after all ASEAN leaders and the bulk of the world’s international organizations signed the United Nations Millennium Declaration on 8 September 2000, a workshop was recently held at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta to discuss the advantages of a regular statistical report on ASEAN’s progress towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Vietnam seeks AIT’s help in marine development strategy
Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) of Vietnam is seeking the active participation of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) to help develop a “National Strategy on Sustainable Marine Developmentâ€. This was conveyed by a 10-member strong delegation from MONRE during a visit to AIT on 16 November 2010.

Over 400 participants gathered in Bangkok last week for a “Language, Education and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)†conference co-organized and sponsored by the Asean Regional Center for MDGs (ARCMDG) of AIT.
AIT-NIDA Sports Day
AIT-NIDA Sports Day is being organized at the Asian Institute of Technology on 15 November 2010. The events planned include, Tug of War, Basketball, Football, Chairball, Table Tennis, Petanque, Snooker and Badminton.Sports activities will begin at 13:00 hours and shall last till 19.00 hours.
