WCMC Director delves on new initiatives

World Conservation Monitoring Centre (WCMC) at Cambridge will be launching a new initiative to harness the world database on protected areas. The product called “Protected Planet” (www.protectedplanet.net) will enable people to discover how the planet is being protected, apart from helping them to a part of the greater solution on the issue of biodiversity.

Nanotechnology moving beyond evolutionary architectures

Semiconductors are expected to reach the 22 nanometer node by 2011, a giant leap from the 90 nanometer nodes available in 2003. Such developments in Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS), which is a technology for constructing integrated circuits, are enabling far-reaching developments in the fields of DNA chemistry, nanomechanics , plasmonics and memristers, to name a few.

CV writing and Job Interview workshop

A CV writing and job interview workshop is being organized by the AIT Career Center on 13 October 2010 at the Milton E. Bender Jr. Auditorium. The workshop will include tips on writing CV’s and cover letters by Ms. Abha Baidya, Counselor / System Analyst , Career Center and Student Affairs; and a session on “Interview Techniques” by Ms. Joan Carla C. Gonzales, Coordinator, Career Center and Student Affairs.

AIT President meets Sri Lankan President, discusses satellite campus in Sri Lanka

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) President Prof. Said Irandoust today met the President of Sri Lanka, H.E. Mahinda Rajapakse, to discuss the issue of establishment of an AIT satellite campus in Sri Lanka. In response to AIT’s desire to establish a satellite campus, the Government of Sri Lanka has expressed its intent to provide land for this purpose.

Voluntary power switch off at AIT campus

As a part of the 10/10/10 (10 October 2010) celebrations, the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) community will participate in a voluntary power switch off for 10 minutes from 10.10 am - 10.20 am.The event is being organized in conjunction with AIT-UNEP RRC.AP.It is a part of the global campaign where more than 7100 events are being organized in 188 countries to celebrate climate solutions.

ASE faculty receives the Young Researcher Award

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has a great learning environment and its output, especially in terms of its alumni, is “absolutely brilliant”. These were the remarks of Dr. Junaid Ahmad, Chairman, National Management Consultants, during an interaction at AIT on 4 October 2010. Dr. Ahmad remarked that AIT should capitalize on its resources, since it has created a strong brand equity and name during the past five decades.
