Organized by the Clean Air Initiative for Asian cities, the BAQ
conference is Asia’s largest gathering of air quality stakeholders. BAQ10 was the sixth conference
and was attended by 600 participants from all over the world. The theme
of the BAQ10 was "Air Quality in a Changing Climate”.
Dr. Nguyen served as a session chair in the session “Achieve the goals
of the Bangkok 2020 Declaration” towards environmentally sustainable
transport, which was organized by the UN Centre for Regional
Development (UNCRD). Dr. Nguyen
highlighted the role played by AIT in capacity building in Asia through
research and training.
The AIT air quality research group made three oral and three poster
presentations at the event, apart from having the honor of having 13
abstracts accepted at the conference. The AIT submissions highlighted
its current research directions including air quality and climate
co-benefit quantification; black carbon emission inventory for
Indonesia; assessment of acid deposition in Bangladesh; assessment of
aerosol effects on atmospheric properties; prediction of haze episode
potential in Chiangmai; and application of nanoparticles for removal of
toxic benzene vapor from contaminated air.
