“We are looking towards projects where we can cooperate with AIT,
particularly in the field of research,” Prof. Oprean told senior AIT
officials. LBU, which is a 220
year old university, is well known in the fields of information
technology, computer science and mechatronics. The University has
strong linkages with industry, and has initiated academic programs in
close collaboration with the private sector.
Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Said Irandoust, President, AIT, stated
that since AIT is located in the heart of Asia, it is an ideal partner
for many foreign universities. He also proposed discussion on both
joint programs and projects.
Apart from Prof. Oprean, the LBU delegation comprised of Prof.
Claudiu-Vasile Kifor, Director, Scientific Research Development, and
Prof. Lucian Cioca, Executive Director, LBU Consulting and Training
Center Concept. The LBU team met Prof. Irandoust; Prof. Joydeep Dutta,
Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Kazi Mohiuddin Ahmed, of
School of Engineering and Technology (SET); Dr. Barbara Igel, Dean,
School of Management (SOM); Dr.Weerakorn Ongsakul, Dean, School of
Environment, Resources and Development (SERD); Dr. Pritam Krishna
Shrestha, Head, External Relations and Communications Office'(ERCO);
Mr. Olivier Drean, Coordinator, French Cooperation, and Advisor to
Administration; and Mr. Hoang Hung Manh, Senior Laboratory Supervisor,
SET participated in the meeting. They also visited the Industrial and
Manufacturing Engineering (IME) facilities at AIT’s SET.
