Nepal delegation signs MoU with AIT, plans joint programs

This follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by NEF-CCN and
AIT on 4 April 2011. The MoU was signed by Dr. Sriam Bhagut Mathe,
Chairperson, NEF-CCN, and Prof. Said Irandoust, President, AIT.
NEF-CCN has also shown interest in offering two-stage Master’s program
in business administration, environment and energy, and biotechnology.
A two-stage Bachelor’s program in Information and Communication
Technologies (ICT), and Civil and Infrastructure Engineering is also
planned. The delegation from NEF-CCN also expressed their desire to
offer Professional Master’s in hydropower, tourism and hospitality
management; apart from an Executive Master’s in Business Administration
(MBA).

The delegation team from NEF-CCN comprised of Dr. Sriram B. Mathe,
Chairperson, NEF-CCN, and former Dean, Institute of Engineering,
Tribhuvan University (TU), Nepal; Mr. Umesh Shrestha, Vice-Chairperson,
NEF-CCN and Chairman, LA College of Higher Studies (LACHS); Mr. Promod
S.S. Pradhan, former President of Nepal chapter of AIT Alumni
Association, and Executive Chairman of Nepal’s National Information
Technology Institute (NITI) and South Asian Institute of Technology (SAIT), Nepal.

During their visit to AIT, the Nepal delegation had a meeting with Dr.
Nitin V. Afzulpurkar, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology (SET);
Dr.Weerakorn Ongsakul, Dean, School of Environment, Resources and
Development (SERD); and Dr. Barbara Igel, Dean, School of Management
(SOM); apart from senior AIT officials.
