Prof. Shabbir’s appointment is significant since he has been appointed
as a full professor in Thailand within a decade of his graduation from
AIT.
Following his appointment, Prof. Shabbir thanked AIT for making a
lifelong contribution to his career. “I would like to thank AIT and its
entire faculty for imparting me with the knowledge and research skills
that have contributed immensely to my career.” After his Ph.D.,
he worked as a Research Engineer with Dr. Per H Nielsen, then Associate
Professor at AIT, whom he credits for teaching him 'life cycle
assessment', which is Dr. Shabbir's major research interest.
Prof. Shabbir has been at the Joint Graduate School of Energy and
Environment (JGSEE)
at KMUTT since 2002. His research focuses on sustainability assessment
of energy systems, sustainability indicators, and certification issues
in biofuels and agro-industry. He is a national expert on life cycle
inventory as well as product carbon footprint. He chairs the technical
