Plaudits for AIT alumni in USA, Nepal, Canada and Thailand

In Thailand, Dr. Assadej Vanichchinchai (School of Management,
2009) recently received the “Excellent Paper Award” on the occasion of
the 45th Anniversary of the National Institute of Development
Administration (NIDA) Thailand. His paper titled “The Impact of
total quality management on supply chain management and firm’s supply
performance” was co-authored by Dr. Barbara Igel, Dean of AIT's School
of Management. It was published in the International Journal of
Production Research, Vol. 49, No. 11, 2011.
During April AIT learned that Mr. Navaneethan Navaratnam, an AIT
alumnus from Environmental Engineering and Management (EEM, 2007) field
of study, was awarded the “2011 Radebaugh Award” by the Central States
Water Environment Association (CSWEA) in the United States.
North of the border in Canada, Dr. Haneef Mian, who completed his
master's from AIT’s Environmental Engineering and Management (EEM)
field of study in 1997, was recently appointed the Ledcor Group Applied
Research Chair in Oil Sands Environmental Sustainability at Northern
Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT).
Back in Asia, it was reported that Tribhuvan University Service
Commission of Nepal has promoted two AIT alumni to the level of full
professor. Dr. Punya Prasad Regmi is now Professor of
Agricultural Economics. He earned his master’s degree and his
doctorate in Regional and Rural Development Planning (RRDP) from AIT in
1992 and 1999, respectively. Also promoted was Dr. Madhav Kumar
Shrestha, who received his master’s in Aquaculture in 1989 and his
doctoral degree in Aquaculture in 1994.
