Dr. Azhar, an AIT alumnus, made these remarks during interaction with
AIT officials during a visit on 12 July 2011. Dr. Azhar, was
accompanied by another alumnus, Dr. Abid Nadeem of the Department of
Building and Real Estate of the Hong Kong
Polytechnic University.
Dr. Azhar stated that under the study abroad program, Auburn University students travel to
Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and to Asia every year. This
year, three batches of students are already in China, Czech Republic
and in Ecuador, he added. He proposed that AIT could also be a
destination for students desiring to pursue a program in Asia.
Both Dr. Azhar and Dr. Nadeem also expressed keen interest in alumni
affairs. Dr. Tien Le Hoang, Head, Alumni Affairs Office (AAO),
elaborated on the efforts being made by AAO in reaching out to AIT
alumni. Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Director, Fundraising, highlighted
AIT’s endowment fund and fund raising campaign. Both visitors offered
to spread the message of AIT’s fundraising to other alumni. The
visitors also met Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Vice President for
Resource Development; Dr. Nitin V. Afzulpurkar, Dean, School of
Engineering and Technology (SET); and Dr. Naveed Anwar, Executive
Director, AIT Consulting.
