Signing the MoU, the Vice Chancellor of UVAS, Prof. Muhammad Nawaz,
remarked that there is a tremendous potential for UVAS and AIT to work
together. “The international atmosphere at AIT, and the exposure that
it provides to students is unique,” he remarked. He stated that though
UVAS was a university dedicated to veterinary and animal sciences, his
brief visit to AIT has convinced him that AIT has a lot to offer to
UVAS.
Ambassador of Pakistan to Thailand, H.E. Sohail Mahmood, complimented
AIT for its contribution to Pakistan. He appreciated the role played by
Dr. Anil Kumar Anal, Associate Dean (Research and Outreach) School of
Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), for his efforts in
finalizing the MoU. Dr. Anil is an alumnus from Pakistan, and the
Ambassador termed the MoU as an example on how alumni can foster
partnerships. “This is an expectation from all graduates of AIT that
they would forge relationships between AIT and their home countries,”
the Ambassador remarked.
Prof. Said Irandoust, President, AIT, stated that AIT appreciated the
active role of the Ambassador of Pakistan. “Pakistan is a founder
member of AIT and the partnership is very important for us,” Prof.
Irandoust said.
Mr. Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Commercial Counsellor, Ambassador of Pakistan
to Thailand; Mr. Syed Sadir Ali Zaidi, Director, Department of
Economics and Business Management, UVAS; and Prof. Rakhshanda Nawaz,
Head, Department of Chemistry, Lahore College for Women University,
Lahore also attended the MoU signing ceremony. Others who attended the
ceremony included Dr. Amararatne Yakupitiyage, Associate Dean, School
of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD); Prof. Athapol
Noomhorm, Coordinator, Food Engineering and Bioprocess Technology
(FEBT) field of study, SERD; Dr. Fazle Karim, Head, Information
Technology and Engineering at AIT Extension; Dr. Pritam Krishna
Shrestha, Head, External Relations and Communications Office (ERCO) and
Ms. Sumana Shrestha, Program Officer, ERCO.
