Water on campus averages 30-cm, still a ‘No-Go’ zone

Water on campus averages 30-cm, still a ‘No-Go’ zone

Following large-scale pumping operations of the AIT campus over
weekend, the water level on Monday, November 28 averaged, a depth of 30
centimeters. Chairman of the AIT Recovery and Rebuilding Committee
(ARRC), Vice President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nakulchai, reported that the
water level was still 70-cm deep in some areas. Some parts of the
campus were now dry, he added.

Despite the lower level of water on campus, which makes it possible to
walk, AIT is not allowing people to wade in the water for public health
and sanitation reasons, Prof. Worsak said.

Dry sections of the campus have revealed a lot of filthy debris, mud,
mold, and funguses, which had accumulated underneath the flood waters
after the month-long inundation of the campus. Snakes have also been
discovered, he added.

Official Salvage Operations were also suspended today,
November 29, and this suspension will last for the next few days. This
is to enable professional clearing and cleaning operations focused on
the common, external areas of the campus.
