AIT inks MOU with Nobel Laureate of TERI University
AIT has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)with India’s TERI University which opens up possibilities for cooperation in across a range of academics and research. The MOU was signed in 4 August 2011 by AIT President Said Irandoust and Dr. Rajendra K. Pachauri, Chancellor, TERI University and co-winner of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

About Sir Howard Newby: Sir Howard became Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool in August 2008. He was previously Vice-Chancellor of the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol, having previously spent five years as the Chief Executive of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). His first Vice-Chancellor’s role was at the University of Southampton, where he also spent two years as President of Universities UK, the UK body which represents the university sector.
Pakistan becomes fifth country to ratify new AIT Charter
Pakistan has become the fifth country to ratify the new AIT Charter and submit the Instrument of Acceptance to the Royal Thai Government. Pakistan follows Japan, Sweden, India and Sri Lanka in ratifying the Charter.
AIT among UNESCO-IHE partners in Gates Foundation project
Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is among the eight partners of UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education, which has been awarded a US$8 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BGMF). Spread over five years, the grant is targeted at education and research in postgraduate programs with a focus on solutions for the urban poor in sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia.
