Seven hundred signatories participated in the International Women’s Day signature campaign organized at the Asian Institute of Technology on 8 March 2011. Participants included students, faculty members, members of AIT administration, as well as young children from the AIT International School. All signatories were honored with a purple badge.

Training workshop on Bilan Carbon methodology
Second training workshop on Bilan Carbon® methodology and tool for calculating Green House Gases (GHS) emissions will be organized at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) from 09-13 March 2011. The last date of registration is 21 February 2011 and a maximum of 14 participants will be invited for the training program.

International Women’s Day
AIT will celebrate International Women’s Day on 8 March 2011 by organizing a range of activities. The AIT Student Union Culture and Gender Committee will take the lead in organzing “purple day” and a signature campaign to ensure a better, equal and a safe future for girls.

Myanmar Egress signs MOU with AIT
Myanmar Egress, a nonprofit organization founded by Myanmar scholars and social workers, has signed a MOU with the Asian Institute of Technology, for developing academic, social, institutional and scientific activities aimed at achieving internationalization of higher education.
Prof. Yang Academic Collection adorns AIT library
The final installment of the academic collection of late Prof. W.J.Yang, former Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan, was handed over to Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) by his widow, Mrs. Wen-Jei Yang, at a simple ceremony at the AIT library on 7 March 2011.

Artwork competition for International Women’s Day
To mark the Global Centenary International Women’s day (1911-2011), the Gender and Culture Committee of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Student Union, along with the Gender and Development Studies (GDS) field of study, will be organizing an artwork competition.
GIZ seeks to tap AIT’s expertise in Timor-Leste
German Society of International Cooperation (GIZ) is interested in tapping the expertise of Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in capacity building initiatives in Timor Leste. GIZ and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Timor-Leste, are actively seeking partners to help enhance the level of agriculture education in the country. This was stated by Mr. Heinz-Josef Heile, Head, Rural Development Program, GIZ, Timor-Leste, during a visit to AIT.
