AIT submitted a rehabilitation proposal under the guidance of Prof.
Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Vice President Resource Development. Nine such
rehabilitation projects worth 292.79 million Baht have been approved by
the National Committee which was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister,
H.E. Mr. Yongyouth Wichaidit. These projects were initially screened
and endorsed by its subcommittee.
This follows a series of interaction and meetings between AIT and the
Royal Thai Government.
The AIT President met country's Justice Minister H.E. Pol Gen Pracha
Promnok at the Flood Relief Operations Command (FROC) Headquarters
along with Mr. Nusrat Ali Khan, Regional Representative, Organization
of Islamic Countries, World Trade. The AIT President also met the
Deputy PM H.E. Mr. Yongyuth Wichaidit on 9 December 2011 where he was
accompanied by Mr. Nusrat Ali Khan; Mr. Tetsuo Hasegawa, First
Secretary, Embassy of Japan in Thailand (on behalf of the Ambassador of
Japan); Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Director of Fund-Raising, AIT; and Mrs.
Wannapa Pliansri, Royal Thai Government Coordinator, AIT.
The projects approved include rehabilitation of dykes and dewatering of
2 million cubic meters (3.5 million Baht); rehabilitation of 12 power
substations (48 million Baht); electricity power line in the campus and
12 substations (1.8 million Baht); repair of pumping station for the
Waste Water Plant (4 sets costing 1.2 million Baht); telecommunication
System (1 control set and 100 lines costing 20 million Baht); internal
road system (4000 meters worth 30 million Baht); Queen Sirikit
Arboretum Garden and landscape (150 rai worth 36 million Baht);
rehabilitation of academic buildings (30 buildings worth 97.0 million
Baht); and rehabilitation of all Student Dormitory (23 buidlings worth
55.2 million Baht).
AIT will be submitting detailed construction plans along with necessary
requirements to the Budget Bureau of the Government of Thailand
soon.
