Thirty-nine alumni from the Republic of Korea have contributed USD 20,118 towards the AIT Flood Emergency Fund for cleansing and rehabilitation of the AIT Mother campus. The donation was handed over to the AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust on 21 January 2012.
The President received the donation at a meeting with Mr. Won Sup Park Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Republic of Korea; Prof. Seung Hwan Lee, Director Environmental Research Center, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Kumoh National Institute of Technology, and a former AIT former faculty; and Dr. Woo Ha Park,
K-water specialist, Provincial Waterworks Authority, and also an AIT alumnus.Prof. Lee revealed that the Republic of Korea has a designated area for foreign universities to establish their own campus and that AIT could avail of this opportunity.Prof. Irandoust while expressing his gratitude for the contribution informed them about the new AIT Charter. Seventeen countries and one International organization have signed the new AIT Charter. The President also invited Korea to be a signatory of the AIT Charter.
