Congratulating the successful participants, Prof. I.M.Pandey, Vice
President for Academic Affairs, AIT, hoped that the specialized
knowledge gained during this program would help them in their
professional banking career. He stressed the need to develop emotional
intelligence while dealing with colleagues and customers, stating that
such skills are of great relevance in the banking industry. He exhorted
the participants to strengthen their expertise adding that in a
globalised world, bankers are facing great challenges.
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand, H.E. Mr. Kazi Imtiaz Hossian,
complimented all the successful candidates and thanked AIT for
contributing towards capacity building in Bangladesh. “You have
acquired professional capabilities and your stay at AIT has helped you
in obtaining global exposure,” he told the successful participants.
All 21 participants in the first batch of the PMBF program are
officers of the Bangladesh
Bank. Mr. Ahsah Ullah and Mr. M. Mahfuzur Rahman, Executive
Directors of Bangladesh Bank also participated in the completion
ceremony held at Plaza Athenee Hotel in Bangkok.
Dr. Barbara Igel, Dean, School of Management, invited all participants
to become part of the AIT alumni network. Dr. Igel also sought the help
of the participants from Bangladesh Bank in mentoring younger students
at the School of Management (SOM) at AIT.
Dr. Jonathan Shaw, Executive Director, AIT Extension, expressed his
gratitude to the Bangladesh Bank as well as the University of the
University of Applied Sciences Northwestern (FNHW), Switzerland for
ensuring that the program is successful. He also thanked Dr. Weerakoon
W. Wijewardena, former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for
his support. Dr. Shaw also announced that the next batch of
participants include officials from both Bangladesh Bank and the Bank of Bhutan. 10 participants from the
Bank of Bhutan are already in Thailand to participate in a bridging
program prior to the beginning of the PMBF. They were among those who
joined the completion ceremony of the first batch of PMBF. Mr. Nima
Wangdi, Deputy Chief of Mission, Royal Bhutanese Embassy also attended
the program.
The PMBF program, which is spearheaded by Dr. Sundar Venkatesh,
Advisor, AIT Extension, is jointly offered by AIT and the University of
Applied Sciences Northwestern (FNHW), Switzerland. It was formally
launched on 14 March 2011.
