HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn grants Royal Audience to 49 AIT students

AIT officials and students, and administrators of the Office of the
Higher Education Commission, Royal Thai Government, expressed their
heartfelt gratitude for the gracious grant of scholarships.

In the years 2010-2011 and 2011-2012, 42 students were recipients of
His Majesty King's Scholarship; 18 students were recipients of Her
Majesty Queen's Scholarship; and nine students were recipients of GMS
Scholarship. GMS scholarship was recently given the name "Loom Nam
Khong Pijai" by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. "Loom Nam Khong
Pijai" means research studies of participants from countries of the
Greater Mekong River Basin. A total of 69 students received the
scholarships during these years.

Due to the flood in October 2011, both batches of scholarship
recipients (2010-2011, and 2011-2012) received certificates at a joint
function. However, the numbers of the recipients presented at the Royal
Audience were only 49, since the rest had returned to their home
country after graduation.

AIT was represented by Prof. Said Irandoust, President, AIT; Prof.
Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Vice President for Resource Development; Ms.
Wannapa Pliansri, Coordinator, External Relations and Communications
Office (ERCO); Mr. Benjamin A. Gargabite, Coordinator, Admissions and
Scholarships, AIT; and Ms. Wilailuk Yooprem, Administrative Officer,
ERCO.

The students were accompanied by Mr. Apichart Jeerawuth,

Royal Thai Government.
