AIT alumna made Thailand’s Permanent Secretary for Education

Ms. Panita graduated from AIT in 1986 with a M.Sc. in Human
Settlements and Development from the School of Environment, Resources
and Development (SERD). She studied Archaeology in her Bachelor’s
degree from Silpakorn University, graduating in 1977. She also attended
the National Defence College of Thailand in 2004.
Her appointment as Permanent Secretary for Education was approved by
the cabinet of the Royal Thai Government and the appointment will be
effective from 1 October 2012.

She has also served as advisor in the Prime Minister’s Office. Prior
to this, Ms. Panita served the Ministry of Social Development and Human
Security as Permanent Secretary, where she also served as Director
General of the Department of Social Development and Welfare. Ms. Panita
has been involved with social welfare work since 1977, when she worked
in the government’s Community Development Department in 1977. She also
worked in the Office of Public Welfare, Samut Sakhon, in 1994. She was
Inspector-General of the Department of Social Development and Welfare
in 2002; and Inspector-General of the Ministry of Social Development
and Human Security in 2003.
