A delegation from Directorate General of Higher Education of Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (DIKTI) expressed their intention to strengthen relations with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and promote it as a center of engineering excellence to candidate lecturers in Indonesia. The visitors also stated that they are interested in sending more scholars, researchers and teachers for dual-degree, sandwich programs and postgraduate programs.

AIT alumnus elected to public office in Australia
Dr. Shahadat Chowdhury, an AIT alumnus won the local government election in New South Wales (NSW), Australia on 8 September 2012. He has been elected as a council governing Parramatta City Council, and will serve for four years.

GUBS, China explores academic collaboration
A delegation from Guangdong University of Business Studies (GUBS), People’s Republic of China visited the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 24 September 2012 to explore possible academic collaboration. Led by its Vice President, Prof. Yong Heming, the delegation revealed that their finance and business degree programs are ranked among the top five in Guangdong province.
