A record-breaking 38 companies join November Career Fair 2012

Overall, the fair was dominated by a large number of Thai
firms who set-up employee recruitment booths on the ground level of the
AIT Conference Center. Large multinationals and small
enterprises from a number of sectors were represented,
as were nongovernmental organizations and consultancies. Industry
recruiters from outside the country included Holcim from Vietnam and
Finisar from Malaysia.

Organized by the AIT Career Center, under the leadership of Ms. Joan
Carla C. Gonzales, Coordinator, the fair attracted a healthy number of
AIT students interested in job possibilities and internships after
graduation.

Prof. I. M. Pandey, Vice President for Academic Affairs, welcomed the
various companies’ representatives to AIT and thanked all of the
organizers, including the many student volunteers.

In his opening remarks, he emphasized that academic-industry interface
– exemplified by events such as the career fair – is the culmination of
activities at AIT.  Employability of AIT graduates, he said, is at
the heart AIT academics which are “grounded in practice.”

Along with students gaining top-notch theoretical knowledge, AIT
stresses solid comprehension and analysis of knowledge, as well as
the development of marketable skills for the practical application of
learning, he said.

AIT also stands out from most universities as a place where people
discover how to work with and benefit from diversity, Prof. Pandey told
the many guests. “International emersion is usually a program offered
by universities as a short-term international experience. But at AIT,
the emersion is every day and it is immense,” he explained.

The event offered fair-goers a full range of job placement
availabilities, internship opportunities, as well as information on
long-term career prospects, on-the-job training, research partners, and
opportunities for networking with attending company representatives. An
IELTS Preparation Workshop was also held in the morning.

on the day), Nippon Paint, ABeam Consulting, Asian Engineering
Consultants, General Motors, Uhde, Eureka Design, Holcim (Vietnam), and
