The acting appointment was made to cope with some urgent matters
facing the Institute as current VPRD Professor Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai
recuperates from a recent bout of illness, President Irandoust
said.
Thankful for the opportunity to serve AIT in the new position,
Dr. Weerakorn indicated he will look after the Resource Development
Office, which includes the Fund-Raising Unit and Alumni
Relations.
A key priority will be internal communications
with faculty and staff and students, he explained. “This is my major
responsibility, and I will also work closely with ERCO for marketing,
branding and promotions, and student recruitment for the whole
institute,” he said.
Dr. Weerakorn has appointed Dr. Amararatne
Yakupitiyage, Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Undergraduate
Program, to replace him as Dean of SERD until his term as Vice
President has been completed.
He said he will continue in his capacity as the
Secretary General of GMSARN. In the short-term, Dr. Weerakorn intends
to open up direct internal communications with faculty, staff, and
students to clear up some of the misunderstandings regarding the
current situation of AIT. “My job is to instill calm at AIT,” he
said.
Dr. Weerakorn said: “AIT is an international
institute, with large diversity of nationalities of faculty, staff, and
students. But as AIT, we are a single unit. We are AIT. So we should
not separate in terms of nationality, or ethnic or other lines. We
should be united as a whole for AIT with the same commitment for
excellence in our education, research, and outreach activities.”

กำลังอยู่ในระหว่างการพักฟื้นจากอาการเจ็บป่วยเมื่อเร็วๆนี้

ได้แสดงความขอบคุณสำหรับโอกาสที่จะได้รับใช้สถาบันเอไอทีในตำแหน่งใหม่
โดยระบุว่าจะดูแลสำนักงานพัฒนาทรัพยากร ซึ่งได้แก่ฝ่ายระดมทุน
อีกทั้งศิษย์เก่าสัมพันธ์ และสำนักงานวิเทศสัมพันธ์และการสื่อสาร
และจะให้ความสำคัญในการสื่อสารภายในสถาบันฯกับคณาจารย์ พนักงาน
และนักศึกษา ดร.วีรกร อธิบาย

และผมจะทำงานอย่างใกล้ชิดกับสำนักงานวิเทศสัมพันธ์และการสื่อสาร

รองศาสตราจารย์และรองคณบดีฝ่ายหลักสูตรปริญญาตรี รักษาการตำแหน่งคณบดี
สำนักวิชาสิ่งแวดล้อม ทรัพยากรและการพัฒนา แทน จนถึงวันที่ 31 ธันวาคม
2555 หรือจนกว่าจะหมดวาระในตำแหน่งรักษาการรองอธิการบดี
รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.วีรกร
กล่าวว่าจะยังคงอยู่ในตำแหน่งเลขาธิการของ The Greater Mekong Subregion
Academic and Research Network (GMSARN) ต่อไป ในระยะสั้น
ดร.วีรกรตั้งใจที่จะรับฟังข้อเสนอแนะโดยตรงจากคณาจารย์ พนักงานและนักศึกษา
เพื่อรับทราบสถานการณ์ปัจจุบันของสถาบันเอไอที
“งานของผมคือการทำให้สถาบันเอไอทีดำเนินงานต่อไปได้อย่างต่อเนื่อง”
“สถาบันเอไอทีเป็นสถาบันระหว่างประเทศ ซึ่งมีคณาจารย์
พนักงานและนักศึกษาที่มาจากหลากหลายชาติ แต่ที่สถาบันเอไอที

เพื่อความเป็นเลิศในการศึกษา งานวิจัย และกิจกรรม outreach
ต่างๆ”
