Prof. Hornyak worked in the aerospace industry as a senior scientist from 1978 to 1990 in San Diego at the Convair Division of General Dynamics in coatings, adhesives, and corrosion. From 1997 to 2002, he worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory on development of chemical vapor deposition synthesis of carbon nanotubes.

AIT workshop deliberates on Urban Flooding Management

With close to half of humanity living in urban areas, urban flooding assumes greater significance, particularly given the expansion and densification of cities. In light of the complexity of challenges and vulnerability of urban population, a workshop organized at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) discussed new developments in this field, including the move from centralized to ubiquitous warning systems.

Worskhop on Strategies for Urban Flood Management

 A workshop on "Strategies for Urban Flood Management" will be organized at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 28-29 June 2012. It is being jointly organized by Asian Institute of Technology, Polytech University of Sophia Antipolis / Polytech Nice Sophia and National University of Singapore / Tropical Marine Science Institute/ and DLR German Space Agency, Germany.

Carpets donated to Muslim prayer room

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) had a surprise visitor on June 26 2012 when a carpet dealer from Bangkok arrived to donate carpets for the Muslim prayer room. Mr. Suhail Kausar, overseas manager of Al-Mubeen Carpets donated carpets and prayer mats for the prayer room, and promised to return again with more.

Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology ties up with AIT

Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology (IICPT) has tied up with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) to facilitate student and faculty mobility, and initiate joint academic and research programs. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate these activities was signed on 25 June 2012 by Director, IICPT, Dr. K. Alagusundaram, and the AIT President, Prof. Said Irandoust.

Book by AIT faculty

A book titled “Mainstreaming Human Security: Asian Perspectives” edited by a team including Dr. Philippe Doneys of the Gender and Development Studies (GDS) field of study at AIT’s School of Environment Resources and Development (SERD) has been released.
