A book titled “Kathmandu Valley Groundwater Outlook” edited by Dr. Sangam Shrestha, a faculty member of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), was launched during the ‘Nepal National Water Week 2012’ celebrations.

At an open information forum conducted by President Said Irandoust on 21 March 2012 at the Milton Bender Auditorium, AIT students got first-hand information about all ongoing efforts to rebuild and upgrade the campus.

Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Thailand, H. E. Mr. Lutfi Rauf has complimented the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) describing it as a “center of excellence” in many fields, particularly in science and technology.

Responding to a request from the President Prof. Said Irandoust for post-flood assistance, Agreenium has agreed to host nine AIT students in research laboratories of their affiliated partners, which are all top research and higher education institutes in France.

A major scholarship scheme for students from Myanmar has been announced at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). Funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Royal Norwegian Government, the program will support 40 Master’s students for a period of three years. The Government of Norway will provide 30 million NOK (around 160 million THB) for these scholarships.

Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, H.E. Mr. Yongyuth Wichaidit, has assured the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) of release of flood emergency fund for campus repairs and rebuilding. The Deputy Prime Minister, who is also Minister of Interior, gave this assurance to the AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust on 15 March 2012.

Four students of the Pulp and Paper Technology (PPT) field of study of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) have been hosted by the University of British Columbia (UBC) following the inundation of AIT in the Great Thailand Flood of 2011.

President of the Institute of Global Environment Strategies, Mr. Hideyuki Mori met the President of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Prof. Said Irandoust and expressed interest in working with AIT both under the ASEAN framework, as well as on a bilateral level.

Twenty-one students were awarded professional transcripts at the completion ceremony of the Professional Master’s In Banking and Finance (PMBF) program offered by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).

AIT alumnus Dr. Qwanruedee Chotichanathawewong, who is a graduate of the Energy field of study, has been appointed President of Thailand Environment Institute (TEI), starting in January 2012.
