GUBS, China explores academic collaboration

A delegation from Guangdong University of Business Studies (GUBS), People’s Republic of China visited the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 24 September 2012 to explore possible academic collaboration. Led by its Vice President, Prof. Yong Heming, the delegation revealed that their finance and business degree programs are ranked among the top five in Guangdong province.

AIT faculty leads session on “Youth Forum on Green Economy”

Forty youngsters from 15 countries were trained in the concept and methodology of water-energy-carbon interface during the event ‘Asia Pacific Graduates Youth Forum on Green Economy’ being organized at Kathmandu, Nepal. Dr. Sangam Shrestha of Water Engineering and Management (WEM) field of study, School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Asian Institute of Technology led the session on ‘Quantifying water, energy and carbon nexus’.

12th Monsoon Marathon

 AIT International School will be organizing a Monsoon Marathon on 28 September 2012 from 0800-1200 hours at the AIT School grounds. This is the twelfth marathon and the theme is “Run for Health – Run for a cause.”Events include Raffle, Hoopathlon and a range of other activities.

TSF training program

Télécoms Sans Frontières, a leading humanitarian NGO specializing in emergency telecommunications will be conducting a training program for new volunteers from 28-30 September 2012. The volunteer program is open to all AIT students with computer and telecoms skills (particularly students from Telecommunications, ICT, Computer Science, Information Management, Disaster Preparedness Mitigation and Management, and Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems.

Career Talk by Accenture Thailand

Toyo University seeks partnership with AIT

Toyo University, Japan has sought collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). A delegation from Toyo University led by its Vice President, Prof. Hidetoshi Kitawaki, Vice President met the AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust on 20 September 2012 and expressed their intention to engage in a permanent collaboration.

APMUN – where people enter as junior delegates, and leave as diplomats

For 350 young college and university students, many of whom entered the portals of a United Nations building for the first time, it was a dream come true. For them to act as representatives of various countries, debate and deliberate like them and finally vote on important motions, is a once in a lifetime experience. As Mr. Shun-ichi Murata, Deputy Executive Secretary, ESCAP pointed out that participants “enter as junior delegates but leave as ambassadors.”
