TUST seeks partnership with AIT, offers summer scholarships for students

This sentiment was expressed by a delegation of TUST comprising of
Prof. Wang Xuehui, Vice President for Research and International
Education; Prof. W U Zhenjun, Director of Office of International
Exchanges; and Prof Meng Chao, Dean of College of Arts, during their
visit to AIT on 22 January 2013.

Prof. Wang expressed his desire to explore an agreement with AIT, and
added that TUST is known for its cross-disciplinary research, and
strong linkage with industry. The Chinese government attaches great
importance to food security and safety, and TUST is working on the
interface of technology, logistics and storage aspects, Prof Zhenjun
remarked. TUST also has a very strong school of marine sciences.

Dr. Barbara Igel, Dean, School of Management (SOM), AIT stated the
School of Management is embarking on new programs in Intellectual
Capital, Knowledge Management and sustainability. This is besides the
programs in Corporate Social Responsibility, Energy Business Management
and dual degree programs. Dr. Nitin V Afzulpurkar, Dean, School of
Engineering and Technology (SET), stated that SET has 15 fields of
study and runs seven undergraduate programs. Dr. Abdul Salam from
School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) spoke about
SERD’s offering in 15 fields of study and its interdisciplinary
programs. Mr. Ahmed Amjad Ali, Head, External Relations and
Communications Office (ERCO), mentioned AIT’s earlier talks with
Tianjin city officials who had identified various sectors for possible
cooperation.

The delegation also met with Prof. I. M. Pandey, Vice President for
Academic Affairs, AIT and Dr. Anil Kumar Anal, Coordinator Food
Enginering and Bioprocess Technology field of study, SERD. Ms. Wannapa
Pliansri, Coordinator, Royal Thai Government, and Mr. Tenzin Rabgyal,
Senior Program Officer, ERCO also attended the meeting. They also met a
group of Chinese students who are studying at AIT.
