Ms. Trang Bui Thi Thu, a Masters student of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has been awarded ‘University of Nairobi-IDRC Research Grants on Innovative Application of ICTs in Addressing Water-related Impacts of Climate Change’.
The award is aimed at strengthening the capacity of Masters and Doctoral students in universities in Africa, Asia and Latin America to help them effectively engage in research on application of ICTs for water management under changing climatic conditions and attendant policy formulation. The award amounts to CAD$7,500.Ms. Bui will be conducting research on ‘Water management for rice production under climate change scenarios in Quang Nam Province of Vietnam’. Her research aims to forecast future rainfall, temperature and rice yield, and analyze adaptation measures to improve rice production under different climate change scenarios. Ms. Bui is conducting her research under the supervision of Dr. Sangam Shrestha, Assistant Professor of Water Engineering and Management (WEM), at AIT’s School of Engineering and Technology (SET).
