59 students from India’s United Group join AIT for summer program

Welcoming the students, AIT’s Interim President Prof. Worsak
Kanok-Nukulchai remarked that two factors make AIT a truly unique
institution – its academic excellence which is relevant to the region,
and its internationality.

This makes AIT an institution which cannot be found anywhere else in
the world, he said. AIT was founded as an independent international
organization hosted by Thailand in 1959, and since then it has
graduated 20,000 alumni. Prof. Worsak added that AIT has students from
all parts of the world, and yet it never considers any student as a
“foreign student,” but regards everyone as a part of the AIT family. He
also informed students of the upcoming activity in form of the
International Conference
ICCCCM-2013
- International Conference on Control, Computing,
Communication and Materials being organized on 3-4 August 2013 in
Allahabad, India.

Dr. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Acting Dean, School of Engineering and
Technology, AIT stated that the summer program follows the signing of a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AIT and the United Group of
Institutions. The program is now in its third year and it has grown
from a small batch of 30 students to 61 students this year. “The value
addition provided by AIT to your learning will make this summer program
a memorable experience,” Dr. Tripathi said. He added that besides
showcasing AIT’s innovative research, talks by experts from UN and
field visits would ensure that students are exposed to a wide range of
academic and research activities.

Dr. Swapnil Srivastava, Dean, Academic Affairs, United Institute of
Technology, while addressing the students remarked that it had been his
dream to study at AIT. “My dream is now fulfilled,” he said while
congratulating the students for the opportunity to be at AIT. Ms.
Tripti Rajbhandari, Program Officer, SET; and Mr. Rajesh Vattikuti,
Project Associate, SET also welcomed the students and highlighted the
exciting activities in next 14 days.
The summer education camp and study tour includes visits to premier
institutions in Thailand including the National Science Technology
Development Agency, National Science Museum and field visits to
Chanthaburi for Kung Krabaen Bay Royal Development Study Center.
