The Mitr Phol Group delegation included Ms. Absorn Pliansinchai,
Director, Research and Development; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sansanarak
Ratchadawong, Senior Manager, Biochemistry and Value Added; Mr.
Saravanan Rethinum, Product Evaluation Specialist; and Dr.
Woraweerukorn Weerajit, Product Evaluation Specialist.
The officials said their firm seeks to maximize efficiency in the
production and management of sugar cane and cassava plantation. The
company is specifically interested in AIT research and expertise in the
areas of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Remote
Sensing and GIS, Water Engineering and Management, and Agricultural
Engineering.
Following an exploratory discussion in the Board Room, the contingent
visited AIT’s RS-GIS Laboratory, where Dr. Sarawut Ninsawat and Dr.
Masahiko Nagai spoke of how their research could assist Mitr Phol
Group’s operations. Later, the group visited the Environmental
Engineering and Management (EEM) field of study lab, where senior lab
supervisor Ms. Salaya delivered an overview of its work.
The visit came on the heels of an invitation extended in September by
Interim AIT President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai to tenant companies
of neighboring National Science and Technology Development Agency
(NSTDA), to engage AIT as an advanced technology institute for the
region.
President Worsak views such visits as means for the Institute’s
researchers to interact more with entrepreneurs in the private sector,
and to inform business people of AIT’s high-technology strengths. The
Institute also seeks to strengthen its cooperation with NSTDA across a
broad range of academic and research areas, President Worsak
said.
