The bi-annual event aimed at bringing companies closer to AIT and its
students was inaugurated by AIT’s Interim Vice President for Academic
Affairs, Prof. Sivanappan Kumar. Welcoming the participants, Prof.
Kumar stated that while the event helps students interact with
companies, it is also an opportunity for the participating companies to
learn more about AIT. Interaction between the participating companies
and AIT could include job opportunities, internship, project
partnership and other forms of engagement, Prof. Kumar said.
“AIT’s mission is sustainable development of the region and beyond,”
AIT’s Vice President said, adding that the Institute is host to
students from Asia, Europe, Africa and North and South America.
Ms. Absorn Pliansinchai, Director, Research and Development, Mitr
Phol, who delivered the address on behalf of all participating
companies elaborated on how companies are embracing sustainability in
their operations. Stating that Mitr Phol, which is the fifth largest
sugar producer in the world, has focused on a zero waste concept, Mr.
Absorn said that this is in line with the global trend in
sustainability. She also spoke about intelligent information systems
and the arrival of “big data” and forecasting.
Prof. Louis Gabor Hornyak laid importance on the multifaceted
relationship between academia and industry. Joan Carla C. Gonzales,
Coordinator, Career Center and Student Affairs, revealed that besides
regular participants in the AIT Career Fair, nine companies joined for
the first time. They included Atos IT Solution and Services Ltd., CS
Product Co. Ltd., Delta Elmechs Co., Ltd., Emerio (Thailand) Ltd., EQHO
Communications Ltd., OOZOU Limited, Pylon PCL, Samsung Electronics Co.
Ltd., and Scan-Inter Co. Ltd.
Companies that participated included Team Consulting and Management
Co. Ltd., Italthai Engineering Co. Ltd., Sino-Thai Engineering &
Construction PCL, Bouygues-Thai Ltd., Cal-Comp Electronics (Thailand)
PCL, Oozou Ltd., Siam Cement Group, Halliburton Energy Service Inc.,
Aurecon, Yokogawa (Thailand) Ltd., Schlumberger, CS Steel Product Co.
Ltd, CP Foods, Mitr Phol Sugar Corp., Ltd., Meinhardt (Thailand) Ltd.,
